No Mate, read the "Good Samaritan" Forum, as I said in it lets see if a company will donate a brand new motor towards it with the charity that we have all raised.

They dont need to donate one, but if they could give us one for the amount of maney we have raised that would be bloody great. This motor is a pretty good option though.

Sold...

Not sure if this can now be removed from the forum or whether it will remain forever and a day and fill up The Forums' web server.

I mentioned this last night as to regards to being able to delete stuff once sold so that this stuff does not just clog up the forums servers and drive space.

So what sayeth thee Mods?

Thanks to thee Clap

Thanks IGAB, this is what I sent to Boulder and he agreed and was going to pass it on to other Mods and the Forum Webmasters for thought.

G, my next request and query is a question about the buy, sell and exchange column.

Myself I find it frustrating that goods get sold but there is no confirmation that they have been sold as people or sellers get slack and lazy and do not post a SOLD sign as the rules suggest that they do.

And so sometimes those like myself that may get bored or perhaps on a rainy day decide to wade through pages and pages and pages to finally find something of interest, something must have, something I have been looking for, for ages and to only find after a post or PM and a reply to find that the item has long been sold, again without the confirmation.

So my request and query is to wonder if it is possible for to make the "Delete Post" easier for those that post, and then forums like this don't just get filled where the advertisement and posts stay there forever and a day, which of course bogs the system down, fills up the web server and is a waste of everyones time. And of course then folk as they successfully make a sale can easily delete and remove the post from the forum.

Just my thoughts for the forum moderators to consider.

Anyone else have any comments or extra suggestions towards this?? thanks all...

I would like to hear what others say and think about my suggestions to this thread and maybe other threads where as a creator of a thread or post that we are not able to delete only edit.
and so to me it is quick and sensible to simply delete the post once the items are sold for the reasonns that I have outlined above. Cheers

Yep, people should state somehow when the item is sold. They it find easy enough to go 'bump'.

I think the thread should remain as its useful to know what stuff goes for..Lamp

Allan - once a post has been replied to, you can't delete it unless you have admin rights. You can edit it however. Up until that post has been replied to, it can be deleted.  To change that would also be another customisation of the code and another thing to consider every time we need to do an upgrade to keep the forum software current. The recent major upgrade has taken forever mainly because of the customisation. Another way to manage it would have been to enable the poster of the thread to be able to delete the thread but  that's not a practical option.

The BSE forum doesn't significantly impact server space or bandwidth, thanks to ICONZ who manage our infrastructure.

I agree we need to encourage a simple etiquette in the Buy Sell Exchange forums, and that is that once the item is sold, the vendor has the decency to edit their initial post with ....
Sold.
as many currently do so it's clear to any prospective buyer.

But/Sell/Exchange is a service that a lot have found useful and hopefully people using it can make it work well with minimal effort. We're always keen to improve what we do and the services we provide and appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

I simply think its a matter for the poster to take responsibility for their advert and heading and not be a LAZY ar**e..
We already have the ability to edit the post so once sold it's simply a matter to edit..
ie: delete ALL the post content and place SOLD  in the post.. simply place a sold in the heading next to the item so they know what was sold and its all done in a about a minute if that...
