Headed out from westpark just after 3pm, fished inside the line of the wharf at the sugar factory on the inner harbour side, say 100m away. Between 2 of us we got 12 snapa from just over the limit to about 40cm. fished for about 4 hours, bites never stopped the hole time, threw heaps back and headed home just before low water.

Lots of other boat moving here there and very where.

The key is to keep your bait on the bottom.

Hi snapatak.

Sounds like a good easy trip! and nice size fish for the inner! I often fish around this area this time of year. We tried a few times around Christmas and New years but things were fairly slow but it sounds like they have moved in-all good! I agree with the bait on the bottom we strayline here and add weight as the tide runs. Must give it a go this week! Cheers..

Cheers P 68,

A nice easy trip with reasonable fish. can't ask for better than that. Have you ever tried P chev reef? Looks like a good burley up sort of a spot.

Where's that barrie, the reef or sugar works?

Might have alook at it myself. Best time was the last 2 hours of the out going, Jospeh lau has the local kownledge, it was he who suggested those were the best times and he's bloody right.

Still see how the wind turns out, might give the manukua a shot.

Hi Snapatak

Never fished pt chev reef. Ive always fished not far off little island near the bridge in about 6 mts. We have always done well in the summer around there! Best fishing we had there was when the first americas cup was here. My mate and I fished late one night and pulled up close to our limit in about 1 1/2 hrs with 3 at just over 8 pound. Not bad for that area we thought. Will have to venture  around the inner its a good place to fish this time of year... cheers

I fished off the pier at Fisherman's wharf on both Saturday and Sunday morning.          Saturday was unbelievable, got 7 snapper in about an hour and a half.  Most over the 32cm mark.  In all fished from 6-30 - 9.00am.  Bite started at around 7.30 or so.   Got very crowded with about 10 fisho's there but almost everyone caught fish and everyone caught someone else's line at some point or the other.

Sunday was very subdued in comparison.  Fished from 5-30 -8-30am and got 2 fish.  Saw a dingy not too far away from the pier reeling in quite a few decent sized fish. Shame I couldn't cast that far.

Cheers

Thanks Barrie.  Have shifted to the North Shore.

Hope it goes well snapatak.   I'm trying the birkenhead wharf tomorrow morning with my old man who's visiting from o/seas.  Hope to catch a few.

cheers
