hi all, have been looking at rods now for way to long, half my day at work is spent on the internet. i have seen in another thread that someone got a trini12 and a t-curve 5-10kg trigger grip, the exact set i want. but what are these rods like, are they as likely to snap as the starlo's. have also seen the synit rods but cant quite justify the spend.
 
any feed back or suggestionswould be great

YoungGun.....I've been putting my 5-10kg T-Curve thru it's paces for the last 8months and haven't been exactly gentle with it either...skull draggin' and high sticking are part of my game plan...lol...all good for an off the shelf option that wont break the bank....StarStarStarStarStar

I have the same T Curve as Kezza and it is just awesome for me... I can't say that I've tried a Synits... but for the money you will pay for it is a great rod.  I've seen some huge kingi's landed with the same rod and stella 5000 reel.Cool

Ring Tiny about a Starlo/Synit GTR hybrid rod, most of the advantages of the Synit rod for a price you won't believe (less than a starlo replacement!). Just ring Tiny and ask him, that won't cost you anything. I bought one and love itWink

5000 you can't get them now online anyway but you could get them late last year... more capcity than the 4000

ive heard of these starlo/gt-r setups, im sure the tip would be awsome, but do you lose out on any lifting power in the butt section.

I love my T-Curve 5-10 overhead. I have a Curado 201DHSV mated to it, powerfull but with loads of feel. There is room in my garage for a Synit 6-8 overhead as well.

I have an offshore rod Illusion sbs, its very nice rod and we caught lots of kings and even a 30kg eagle ray on it (land based) and RRP around 280

Go with whatever your budget can afford, the T-Curves are a top rod and there are so many reels to choose from look for one that suits the line class rating of your rod and has the spec's to handle the type of fish you plan on catching.

I haven't had the rod put to the test fully yet but it feels great so far with plenty of reserve. Just ring Tiny and ask him, do you have his number?

We have done a fare number of these GT-R /Stralos now, the best people to talk to are Tobez and LevCat. Tobez has skull draged fish with his in an attempt to break it (Fish 1 Tobez Nil)LOL, The Tip sections are matched in line weight class to the base section both being rated to 8kg. But it's like anything match it to what you intend to catch, school Snapper up to 15-18lb and rat King's would be no worries but if you are going for larger fish consider an overhead setup that can be cast.

I would hope so. I've caught a few rat kings on my 3-5kg starlo without too much trouble at all. Still trying to find a decent LBG softbait rod for the bigger boys tho!
