It's been a while since I posted anything fishy. Went out today for a very quick afternoon fish on the Manukau. idea was to pillage the snapper stocks then go and wipe out the kingi population.

First fish came onboard within 5mins a nice 42cm snapper. After another 30 fish we lowered our standards and started to keep any over 28cm. We came home with three Big smile

We went off to target kingfish after an hour or so, zip. Caught plenty of our favourite lives - Jack mackerel. Gave the fish to my father in law and hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Good honest report there Smudge. I tried for snapper over the coast briefly but struggled, weird thing was I caught a legal one inside the river while catching trevs, thats a first for me. The bugger fell off the hook when I went to lift him into the ski, spewed up a heap of crushed shells too

Hehe nice. Was talking to my mate Shane today, he had his new boat (Out West) out over the coast. They didn't get any snapper, just gurnard. Another crew I spoke to found it hard going across the harbour bar too. I'd rather have a hard day in the harbour Big smile.

Interesting about the snap in the river

Maybe even eleven :)

Had a very productive day today out at 55m. Easy pickings of fish between 35cm and 50cm, with a few trevs and ky in the mix, but man what a great day. Dead calm out there. We don't normally cross with an out going tide but it was too easy today.

I feel vindicated. Big smile

We went out to the 30m mark and binned up in a couple hrs.
Snapper going wel up into the 50s, some nice KY for the smoker and 1 carrot.
We where a bit aprehensive about the fishing going on the comments of Cozzie and smudge above..

Rather an eventful trip down the river thu..clipped a bank, which put gravel up into the engine.. took a fewattempts before we where sure had cleared it all out before crossing the bar...and took the tip off the  motor skeg.

In doing so took the opportunity to hit a few of coxies trevs inside the bar...unsuccessfully.
