for small boats painz wessix are pretty hard to beat priced at around $280. to $300 dollars depending were you live they have 5 year lithiumn battery with wall mount bracket and toy can get battery replaced after five years also has test switch. your local chandler should have them.

Hi Strawberry,

My Eperb is almost 8 years old now, it does however still show active on the test switch, my question is, would it last long enough in a situation or is there no real way of telling but say having to use it ?

Cheers

AC

probably not worth taking the risk the batterys are ment to last about 5 years for what it cost to get it serviced and battery replaced its a must to be done , bit like flares they have an expirey date but quite often still work well after . not worthn the risk really

You've gotta wonder after those 3 guys died down south after the S&R took 3 hrs to respond to their epirb, I suppose though your paying to increase the chance that you could be rescued.

Hopefully after that incident they will take the signal more seriously and not risk anyone else's life.
