Muppet so aggressive. There is some skill to debate. Your message gets lost when you attack.

You asked what I did to drop my emissions. I did the biggest thing a person can do. Stopped eating dairy and meat. Steps you are quiet right Kiwis flailing themselves while the big 5 countries that are doing the majority of damage do lip service and nothing else does feel pointless.

Muppet you have a point re population being the crux of the issue. One of a few reasons I didn’t have children, seriously it was one of the reasons. Maybe strain 10 of Covid will do it’s work and population won’t be a problem anymore.??

I have no faith in the human race to do what’s right for others rather than their greedy selfish wants. Well not the peoples of this earth today, bar a few Buddhist’s etc

There is no skill in stating basic facts about human behaviour, it is what it is. The attack goes both ways but I will be more eloquent in response.

Yeah dairy and meat won’t be stopping anytime in my household, it is essential to a healthy diet. But fair play to you.

I actually don’t think population is the crux of the issue, the issue is developing affordable technology that replaces fossil fuel that has the least effect on the environment. I personally don’t think any population culling is needed and advise against that line of thinking. I don’t recommend that to anyone,

You see that is the difference between you and me, I actually have faith that humans will be just fine in the future. All the evidence points that way by way despite the ongoing calls on climate alarmists.

My cynicism comes about from reading this stuff back in the 80s and watching organisations like NASA, Greenpeace, etc, etc happily take advantage of the use of fossil fuels. Then leverage themselves a healthy dose of innocence when telling us we must stop using the stuff now.

I would like to think that is not happening on a personal level. With people saying the right thing online doing so just for the fact they said it. I would like to think not but my cynical side says otherwise.

Yup, Al Gore and a few others have done quite well traveling the world promoting fear while flying/driving and lighting/heating their multiroom mansions.
The day they start walking the talk is the day I will start listening.
We have even had a billionaire fly into space claiming it was a carbon neutral flight.
Just about choked myself laughing.

I believe Al Gore has done so much damage to the science of climate debate but you really wont do anything until someone else does ?

I do what I can and have been for decades. Without the need for a stick. Little things that save power, water, rubbish, plastics and even vehicle emissions. Common sense things which all add up. However, I will not be bullied into large scale guano changes that will affect the middle and lower classes hugely while the wealthy and large companies cruise through with no real consequences. For example, carbon credits. What is the point of large polluting companies being allowed to purchase these to offset their emissions while passing the cost on to the consumer. By all means charge these companies, but make it illegal to pass those costs on which then becomes a genuine incentive to change as it would affect their bottom line and shareholder dividends. Until the load is carried evenly, I will continue to do the little things.

Ended up drifting onto an article about prince Andrew and the spot of bother he's in at the moment.
There must be a rather large group of very well-to-do people quietly sh-tting themselves. The young girl he rented from his now dead mate is gonna take the perverted toff prick to the cleaners. I sincerely hope she doesn't get brought off....

Unfortunately yes. Resistance is futile. But which licence depends on if under 30" long, restricted, or semi-automatic.

Imagine if electric cars were more popular years ago...

I also read that Henry Ford's first cars were designed to run on bio-diesel made from hemp. Rockefeller and the Oil Barons did a deal with him over night for oil/petrol production and the rest is history.Ouch

1911 and only 5% of the country had electricity, maybe they were thinking of the future...

Henry Ford thought ethyl alcohol would be the fuel to run cars on, he said  "There is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented. There's enough alcohol in one year's yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a hundred years."  He said it was the fuel of the future in 1925.

The hemp thing was a bit later in 1941.  He designed, and built, a car made from resin stiffened by hemp fibers and ran it on ethyl alcohol fermented from hemp. He was really into hemp.

Back in the twenties lots of people thought ethyl alcohol was the way forwards, but it turned out to be cheaper to pump oil from the ground and refine it than to ferment organic matter into ethyl alcohol.  No one bothered about environmental impacts back then.

Also worth noting the first six land speed records were set by electric cars, followed by a steam car, before any internal combustion engines managed it.  Definitely nothing new about electric cars, maybe the internal combustion engine will turn out to be the dead end in vehicle development in another hundred years time.

First Crude Electric Vehicle Is Developed

Around 1832, Robert Anderson develops the first crude electric vehicle, but it isn't until the 1870s or later that electric cars become practical. Pictured here is an electric vehicle built by an English inventor in 1884.

Apparently the Rockefellers and oil industry donated heaps to the prohibition movement in order to stop bulk ethyl alcohol being produced.  It was shaping up to be the fuel for vehicles because it could be produced locally in places that did not have oil.

This degree is the first of its kind in the world and combines scientific knowledge of the biophysical world with understanding of economic and political systems and the impacts on Māori, Pacific and Indigenous communities.

What are the Impacts on Maori, Pacific people etc and how do they differ from the effects on other ethnicities?
Why choose either diving or fishing when you can do both. Besides crayfish tail is very good bait!!

I loved the bullet points especially the one about it being simple to solve.
The potential careers raised an eyebrow too.
