Protesters going for it

Loved the headlines in the NYT last week on Cuba.

Protesters yelling “freedom” and other anti government slogans 😂

Dunno why they need to bribe.
It’s a shame because it should be just down to free choices. The UK has now opened up and so far so good. Once we reach a high level and if we open up then we will see how good the vaccine really is.

Will they do the same again with the standard flu jab, Paul?

They have had a couple of scares in OZ and pretty much compulsary for staff over there.

Al  The company has a nurse who comes in May/June and does the Flu jab.

Any incentive to protect staff/company brand is worth it.

Why does everything have to be a bribe as such?

Exactly..And seems takes an Aussie company to kick this off in NZ.. this late.
A lockdown.. or even a scare..  a supermarket or fast food chain has already added a bonus to their front line staff..

Is this much different than a company sponsoring time off for a bulk blood donner or chest Xray (rem them?) session.. espec over Xmas?
Good PR.

I recon your company should be quietly letting the media, and DHBs know Wink

I wonder if the incentive is taxable or not?

So, with all this jabbing going on, have you given any thought as to how you will feel when you find out you mate, brother, neighbor, good friend, has decided they won't get the jab..
I witnessed today, almost physical recoil when someone said they won't be getting it.
you can't fix an idiot with duct tape, but it does muffle them for a while...

Yeah it will be interesting. Making a medical procedure compulsory is a slippery slope but my main concern is if this turns out to be a reasonable percentage that the decision to open up is not delayed.

Its a bit like those anti lockdown ppl when we where in lock down.
Espec me being at risk and age, and wife being essential workers we decided at the time, couple family friends and associates we would not be visiting or have visit till all this got sorted.
Anti vac....NZ needs a certain level of vaccination for it to work.. like the how, polio and measels got eliminated...
Well polio, measal has popped its very ugly head up again in resent yrs due to the anti vac.. freedom of individual over the greater good self centered me me me BS  ppl who never lived thru these pandemics.

Hopefully long term covid variants like flu variants, polio boosters, will be just a routine annual jabs .. and in most cases free sponsored by government or even employers.. maybe even company requirement of employment???

As to covid rushed thru... each yr for decades we have had new flu jabs.. thu Northern hemisphere gets it 1st..but time frame is shorter for them...

Working on the Herd immunity theory. It is not going to work.Immunise 80% and that leaves 20% to fight it out.Hmm why does a farmer drench all his sheep not just 80%.Because he/she knows it a waste of time unless you do the whole herd.

Good point but, don't forget kids won't be immunised yet. Ouch

The herd/ flock all get drenched cause they are all in a mob restricted to a small area...And think required for sending off to works/ new pastures etc.
Drenching is about parasities, not as much virus.

With human population herd immunity.. which shows it works with polio, measles, and all those other nastys that only couple generations ago where wipping out heaps ppl...

If say have 80%  and 1 person comes along only a very small proportion of that 20% get sick...and very quickly the infection in the population dies out.
Then the anti vaccers come only, spread their BS.. we drop below the herd immunity for that diseases and we have a pandemic, as recently happened with measles around the world..

I am a firm believer of polio/measle vaccines (not so much of covid) but getting it  anyway.right or wrong.

Those vaccines mentioned that we have as babies/children should be compulsary and those not vaccinated should be excluded from public schools etc.My cousin in aussie is a true blue hippy type but the thing he is in favour is vaccines.Simple reason he wants his children to enjoy healthy free lifestyles without the worry of certain diseases.   https://www2.health.vic.gov.au/public-health/immunisation/vaccination-children/primary-school-immunisation-requirements
By law, a child must have an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) to enrol in primary school.
