Dave,, I've just returned from one of the shops in Hamilton, the owner is always up with the latest facts / gossip,, he was told by a Truckee that its not that hard to slip through the border (Auckland that is)The border has done a reasonable job keeping the honest people within the border, the issue is as with the international border, is that some people just don't care or have no conscience or are plain out dumb. I remember that when they were allowing people to return from overseas that there was a rule that they had to have a negative Covid test result and yet plenty of people were leaving at risk countries and turning up with a positive result, you didn't have to be a rocket scientist to work out that in many countries some people will do anything to come to a, left wing socialists one like our, no consequence etc etc,, Given that we cant travel to work easily unless we get an exemption, cant go fishing now because of the powers to be cant  enforce the rules to f.. wits, the boat wont get wet yet again. Bit selfish I know but enough is enough.

Yeah, I know that whole area well, so many places to slip through, and of course, people misusing paperwork to get what I want.

My network of informants down here soon spat put what really happened, one of them an ex popo. .and it is the reason this will spread. Not only are people selfish, they are stupid as well. So, go to auckland to pick up some merchandise...but to get so close, go indoors etc whilst there, is just stupid.

What gets me, is that these people will give covid to their weak and vulnerable..and it will still be someone else's fault, that's right, the unvaxed who keep to themselves..or something like that.
you can't fix an idiot with duct tape, but it does muffle them for a while...

Agreed Dave,, the Govt has shelled out millions to help these so called at risk people but they wont get of their f...n asses to help themselves,  as usual Mr. middle income suffers the consequences.

Can take a horse to water but cant make it drink.

Statically we (I believe as government has no fixed policy of covid exit .. yet) need something like 90% of the vaccable population done.
Yet even if achieve it , and or group, be it, rugby players, religious group, or say surfers or a cultural doesnt get to the 90% ..
We keep lockdown, economic progress / recovery on the back burner...
Would it just bee based on racial stats?

and at this point in time after the target marketing , propaganda, its now by individual  FREEDOM of CHOICE.

The concern is our hospital over load of an already over loaded under resourced under staffed front line health system that cant cope.. its not coping well now with scheduled normal beds and covid on top.
My understanding is covid is taking priority of beds and icu over normal operations and accidents.

Does out government have the political balls/ support to change that priory to scheduled operations and accidents and vaccinated covid patents that may need those beds and non vacced, by choice, left out?

Already the treasurt and reserve bank (over the weekend) are issueing big warnings that this and future governments are either going to have to increase the tax take, and /or decrease spending as debt to GDP (thu bottom end of the scale world wde)  at 50% is way too high.
General rule of thumb is around 30%.. pre covid pre labour was around 20%.

Not only that we are now seeing that its our current young tax payer generation , the future who are going to have to pay for this debt. Yet the older (bad) baby boomers thru no fault of there own are suddenly getting richer (on paper, not cash rich) which is causing and going to cause even greater rifts in society.

And dont let the government borrowing scheme that borrowing internally from the  RB therefore we are told not debt.. it is and will have similar long term effects.

Inflation is raising is head again...
Im seeing headlines, articles, economist reports, bank reports etc..
It all very de javue of the early 70s and pre '86.
The same numbers comments from economic observers and the RB and treasury..

If this government doesnt pull in spending on covid, in all aspects, doesnt free up restrictions/lockdowns to get the economy going very soon its not going to a a splatter of economic 5h!t, both household and country, it will be bukets of the stuff, as in the 70s and 80s.

Lockdown restriction(which are in place so not to over load our hospitals) need to come off..
And to do that, the call that non vacced will not be treated in hospitals over vacced, normal operations and accidents needs to be made now.
And fully come in in 3 weeks from now.

We have yet to see a REAL hard call in any aspect from this government..
It is not a time for race, culture, whatever, it is time for and about ALL New Zealanders as a whole.

Side note: wounder if crusher would have the balls to do so?

Bit harsh steps. What about those with type 2 diabetes are you going to leave them to die too after largely diet based health issues. Smokers suffering from lung cancer a choice of theirs to smoke would you let them die. The suicidal. The ones that survive taking their lives. That was a choice maybe we leave them to it. Alcoholics, drunk drivers, many of those were personal choices. You're on thin ice I think. Get real.
Why choose either diving or fishing when you can do both. Besides crayfish tail is very good bait!!

Watching it now and “experts” calling for L4 again completely evading the fact that over 70% are double vaxxed in Auckland. 90% won’t be far away.

The real question is are they anti-vaccination? Because the way they are acting they certainly don’t have any faith in it working.

As long as WE Aucklanders do not follow the rules we will not get out of L3 regardless how many vaccinated.
Need L4 10 days with real policing and knock it on the head. Yes I am doubled vaccinated and still dont see the seriousness of "Delta" along with many others.  2020 1st lockdown 27 deaths and people took it seriously,2021 3rd lockdown. Oh delta will kill Bla bla bla. 2 deaths ,look at our closest nieghbour Aussie(nsw/vic) yes deaths but still a clayton type lockdown.Still go to work/school/cafes etc no real effect. Population of nsw/vic far exceeds NZ so 14 million and 1500 deaths there abouts doesnt really reflect how deadly the virus is portrayed.
More die from the common flu/road deaths etc.

10 days will do nothing, Doomfield said 14 days would be pretty much the same.

it is clear that level 4 is never going to happen again.  When we shifted to 3 the data said we should have stayed another 2 weeks if elimination was the objective. Even with the 4 we had the numbers bounce along without going to zero which is what I predicted from the beginning.  You don’t have to be a genius just look at other examples and don’t pretend there is something magical about NZ. Covid in oz is predominantly a disease afflicting the poor and it is the same here.

Poor people live in more crowded situations. Poor people are more likely to work in essential services and can I’ll afford any time off. Add in the gangs and drugs and away we go.

Im for a date by which we relax the restrictions irrespective of who is or isn’t vaxxed.

Everyone has had plenty of time.  Make your choice and take your chance.
