Only just read these dated posts. some years ago I caught on a small nymph a tench of around 2-3 lbs in the main lake. It was in about two feet of water in the first small inlet/bay on the side of the lake opposite the park. I thought I was casting to a brown trout so imagine my surprise when I landed it! Haven't seen one since.
