Why choose either diving or fishing when you can do both. Besides crayfish tail is very good bait!!

Don't  worry - Jacinda has it in hand. She said weeks ago - no need for (illegal) roadblocks after L3. So can't be real.
It is part of the SH network isn't it?

Crazy even the guy from up there who represented them struggled to explain.

If I did that in the UK.

Haha - scary, but hardly surprising. The Govt and Police basically encouraged these illegal roadblocks during L4, so did we really expect they would magically disappear, never to return, once that was over? Precedent well and truly set, and now it appears DOC's playing the appeaser role.

Will be interesting to see the (lack of) official response...

yes my thoughts exactly. This should be big news. Im wondering whether fisheries will see through it. A big smoke screen probably.

I'm sure they will reconsider their stance and will reopen to all once a government endorsed toll is introduced.

I wonder if it really is Iwi or if their is a gang behind it?

Yep, should be big news. Unfortunately instead our media's doing the Govt's campaigning for them by focusing/smoke-screening on the opposition's leadership woes.

While there may have been genuine intent during L4 the Government & Police by supporting these roadblocks/checkpoints have legitimized them so now the public of New Zealand can expect to see more of them popping up in the future for little to no reason behind them. I suppose you can call it power to the minority.

Nothing on last nights news of Treasury failing to front the Covid cmmtte. Said they would front today. Nope. Instead we get Jacinda handing money over to a tourism center in rotorua.
This was the Govt that promised a new level of transparency on election night. This is getting really bad.
Totally unaccountable to any scrutiny and the media let them of with it.
She is controlling all the news with the news briefings each days - she basically chooses/evades the hard Qs.
Shocking really.

mmmm yes the media. I read a TV one story online today about the potential leadership coop. In the following comments. There was not a single positive comment about the opposition party. And many were quite nasty. I'm pretty sure they doctored them. If tvnz swayed any further left they'd be upside down.

Back to the roadblocks...
Someone is going to get hurt.
Many people are sick to death of giving in to cultural beliefs,
Paying off the taniwha etc.
What of the waikato rahui?
We took all of the pakeha beliefs out of circulation...Bible in schools, prayers in Parliament etc, people wanting to change the anthem to get rid of the god reference..

you can't fix an idiot with duct tape, but it does muffle them for a while...

And the good news is that DOC and ngati kahu will be having a re-opening party on the 29th. I guess they couldn't find staff to clean the toilets or something. Thank goodness we spent all that dosh tar-sealing that road, else-wise the poor boys manning the gates (yes, gates) would be covered in dust.

Yep this is a big can of worm on an already can of worms.
All because of a passive nod to illegal road blocks rather than the military, that had been activated and on stand bye was not used to back the police on legal check points.

There will be a point whee the law and government will have to enforce these laws, and Iwi will then put forward president in the courts.
This government has certainly CREATED a can of worms.

Basically because they want to dodge any political confrontation. The only news we are allowed to hear/see is good news. She doesn't want to be seen presiding over a maori standoff at a road block. Bad TV. So she lets them run.
She doesn't want Treasury fronting the Covid cmmttee, because the news is bad. The cmmtte was put there to scrutinise their actions. She won't allow Kelvin Davis to front the cmmtte. Why? Because the news is bad.
Anyone know what the unemployment stats are? You would think that might be a topical Covid news item?
Nope.
So, Iwi persist with illegal road blocks after smiley face tells us they will be gone after L3 - no need for them. So rather than confront them, we are told the toilets need re-servicing. A SH closes because toilets need cleaning??
This is turning in to a propaganda state.

Yep Professional politicians , and a election in Sept..
All about keeping the job not about what is..

Have to criticised the media on this as well.. they should be all over this big time.
And the opposition, trying to be all over it, and failing cause they are just tryers.. tryers are trying ppl.

Anyone know what the unemployment stats are? You would think that might be a topical Covid news item?
Well pretty much all those who where unemployed plus all those on the extended wage sudsity that will not be included in those numbers til after the elections..
