Yeah not sure where those conditions came from.

CB I always check this site before I get out of bed
http://www.port-tauranga.co.nz/cargo-and-shipping/harbour-conditions/

This will give you a live reading of conditions. Look for under 1m swell at A beacon and less than 10 knots wind.
Especially been so far from the beach it will save you a trip.

Yeah, checked at 4am, for 1.5m and 10knots NE. That wind blew all night, would have been bumpy.

Well for valentines day I managed to nab a very used viking 400 as a starter yak. So I'd be keen to tag along on a trip when stars align.
Just waiting on some parts to make safer such as anchor trolley.
In the meantime got to go play in the surf and practice climbing back on etc.

They are a good yak Waxer. I have one. To be honest I never use the anchor trolley. I only drift fish and just chuck the drogue out the back and then back paddle to retrieve.
If you are using a weighted anchor then yes you will want to trolley the anchor back and forth.

Wanting to put another softbait reel in the shed what is everyone’s favourite reel. Not concerned on budget. Just went to smart marine to get a feel for what’s out there but came away more confused than when I went in haha.

Penn Clash or new Spinfisher 2500.
Save money on reel get better braid and fill the jig head container up too.

Fished all the top reels have to say Penn has the best drags.

Heavy reels though wasn’t overly fussed with the slammer. I always tend to end up back with shimano gear. Do like my ci4 stradics

Clash is no heavier than a Stradic. And the drag is in a different league.
If budgets no issue and you wanna spoil yourself get a Vanquish.

Haha I have used the Vanquish 4000 a number of times. They don’t like to much salt spray as my mates reel now sounds like a grinder, Awesome light reel tho. The Stella 4000 is on special at the moment but at almost 400 grams is a heavy beast for soft baiting. Stradic seem well built but every reel I own is Shimano it’s about time I jump ship so I can complain about another brand falling to salt water ingress and sticky drag haha. What Reels are you running Piwi?

Downtown what size Stradic’s do you run? Both the 3000 and 4000 seem well specd for the price.
