Just realised my quest for another SR lumo … could be a false alarm ringing in my head. Dug a few out and some pukulas at front and the little flea are literally untried , goadby witch ( lure at top) have a spare for (great lure). The smaller pukula sprocket also won heaviest marlin weighed for wife in nautigals quite a few years ago but was on LR at time.  But still yearning for lumo swimmer like an RG2.
As said the black magic xtc lumo in middle above flea was disappointing ….maybe will run better on lighter trace which have run once with.. but is finding competition with phantom on LR very tough going. And literally is pretty sluggish non performer so far. The second down is local made  lure attracts everything including marlin and makos, slightly too big a head for my light riggers. So have run on LC.. not great hook up rate even on makos… which why has survived.

Hooker Ghost in BS or MSsizes are great short rigger lures, really easy to get to run well.

I remember when the zuker Black and Purple was the fav for the short corner.  I personally run an undertaker there.  but have also had multiple success with a BTK as well.

Yep both good posts, ghost hard to find even on hooker site, get the undertaker lumo head (and don’t have any undertakers) and is one in lumo up road at hunting fishing constellation last time I looked... tempted but nah … bonze never been great for me apart from sharks and few hits on black and purple d shack. Love Bonze/ Mr Fleet but  his lures not as much. Never declared that before… I have some cool bonze lures although never been great catchers for me, but massively successful on other boats. Funny that stuff… only ever done light gauge a few times and not fan of corroded hooks after a season.
Hey I’m cheap arse like **** stuff to last for years.
Went into Marine Deals quite a  few months ago ... saw Steve Campbell, and he really likes larger bonze lures ..and that’s a way better recommendation.  Told him we mainly catch stripeys here... little out my league, as buying another pukula phantom at the time. But hey the bonze “heat” I don’t  have, and Steve didn’t recommend that, looks like a choice lure.

Black n purple Zuker.. my best lure I still have, bought for my 40th birthday by now wife (wasn’t at time) .. I’m now 58 . Best long corner ever and have also caught fish on riggers with it. Scarred up MF of a lure. I don’t run it any more but have caught stripeys and real good blue on it. Retired. They don’t make em anymore. And mine is super special as every time look at bill marks over that head has all the memories.

Must be a non fishing post here Shane, ie it’s winter and I’m not fishing .
A disease suffered by all fisherman particularly those of summer pelagic slants.
I’m just kidding.

But in truth you know there is no specific great lure.

You know all too well, it’s the right place at the right time.

It needs to be an active lure in the right position at the right time.

Trolling any item giving off the right signals-in the right place meaning where the fish should be is the key.

Yes some colour combinations are relevant but that is around light conditions and current bait environment.

It’s a lottery but with the ability to stack the cards, ie you’re kinda the house it can be improved by using the right tools.
Oops I almost fell into the trap of confirming your need to use a specific lure, or have I.
Just cruising in my now sweetas pimped out Southern 755 HT0!

Very true Matt… I just love hearing what other fishos do and run, and most of us suffer from nagging fear of missing out.
I am/was addicted to collecting lures… but am really judicious around what I buy now days. Probably limit of one new lure a year, and some years have even bought none but have lost few favs over last few years, or had em damaged by fish. Mahis love those wings on pretty Hawaiian lures, have surprisingly sharp saw like teeth on bigger models. Had a mako smash hole in another nice lumo plunger. And this year had one busted off by a big fish I believe was a Black.
Stop by for coffee at Lincoln Rd coffee club sometime.

Getting your good proven lures wrecked and not able to replace is what hurts.
I have a few Zucker blk and prple. Didn't know no longer avilable. WTF? Why would they do that - one of the best. It does your head in.

Post now getting boring… but thanks everyone for input, we have probably covered it for another couple of years, unless unforeseen hot lure comes along.
But hello Alan,  how is fishing where you are now? Likely, hopefully endless blue sky and workups off that fad out from where you live? Something like heaven I suspect.
