Love to hear your opinions boys?. Lost last black magic stripey 2, were my favourite this year, lumo colours all gone. Have had success on aloha ezi nut, but Mahi ate nice silver wings off one side this year. What’s  your call… I like lumos cause I  run a phantom blue pink orange on other side on LR which ain’t going anywhere and have a spare.

But choosing new lure SR is doing my head in. Mainly after stripeys and yfts and soft 14 ft killwell one piece riggers fishing 24 and 37kg. Disappointed with new black magic lumo super stripey xc .. but have now put on lighter trace … but nah action still ain’t right.

But tell us what you think is best…what I know is hard to buy nicer lumo in a proper shop these days … seen few options online. Doesn’t have to be lumo… but usually run one there.

I have had success with the black bart rpp in lumo and mini 1656 slant mini in lumo, acutely lost the 1656 to a stripy put out the rpp and smashed one on that.

Pakula Medium Sprocket - probably better known as a LR lure but I've run them on the SR with success.

Good recommendations thanks, been looking at RG2 and while have the d shackle in black purple sometimes on long corner, would also consider in lumo for SR.
Probably more likely go Red Gill 2 though in a lumo, as presently don’t have any redgills in spread. Have tried an old rg1 in scad which while came highly recommended never really produced on LR. And now sits in lure box with many others that didn’t work.Probably few gems in there for other boats … but I am a possessive lure collector. Hard for even Captain Simon/ Sambosi to trade me out of the better ones even when saturates me with bourbon odd night at tuts.
Although he did succeed once I am probably still ahead when taking in account cost of bourbon.Smile And in recent years actively encourage him to keep trying that cunning move.

Don’t think you’d regret the RG 2 lumo

I have a have D Shackle in evil. I'll happily swap for the RG1. Wouldn't take much to reskirt in Lumo.

5.5 in black and purple....I have a well used one for sale, $200 and its yours.  Just needs new skirts as current ones shredded due to the dozens of marlin that have tried to eat it.

It can be your 501st lure

Yep really good lure… crazy good on long rigger runs amazing was thinking putting on both riggers but want something with more splash on SR.
Keep that  black purple Zuker Simon, dumb selling that at even $200 they are probably best long corner ever made.  But I am not paying you for that unless laying bottle or two bottles of bourbon down, and me getting through one and we’ll into the second. And you shud not encourage me to drink more… I am doing dry July and possibly developing a new perspective on the addictive substance that alcohol is.

I am going to see Ian / Wanabe … has em all to choose from. Wasn’t sure he was even still in market but he has reached out.  But wow .. “the man of lures” is still there!
Next fish on that Rg2 lumo will be dedicated to Ian, with the upmost respect. Good to see the old school westy network still works on here.
I know Nathan but not into bothering him for one lure and his Rg2 has got some good press on this post. Don’t think he’ll be too bothered me buying second hand Rg2 lumo (likely lightly used)  off Ian.

Yep and seen the new bonze ones … expensive. Reckon would be good but I am very old school … was one of last to use dredges here… which another boat go on uses sometimes 2 bonze dredges.. personally no longer use them as don’t believe makes much difference. Have a very nice squid nation dredge in garage, didn’t get used at all this year, and plenty of enquiries without a dredge.

But to your point , actually  a believer in birds more than dredges and something I would like to explore. Boats that do run them, seen a few Boone birds ….they look cool and create a lot of commotion in strike zone, likely a good choice for smaller boats like mine. But usually seen in launch spreads.
Funny you don’t hear more about em…as old school lure fisher I reckon are probably better option than using a dredge if wishing to attract fish to what your lures are doing. I’ve rarely used my dredge and never yet a bird. Latter may change on basis an n old dog could learn a new trick. Still fascinated by those who run birds off Tuts when watch their spreads go past.
But hey, I am a simple guy - 4 great lures can be more than enough where the fish are.

I like the Pakula Mouse on the SR. In a darker colour to stand out in and around the whitewater.

Swims like a champ in most conditions...

Yep Rowan and still a top choice for my SR, pretty beaten up though, one is even partially re skirted,  after underskirt fell out. Are bit faded after lot of use and one of heads bit munted. Caught a few fish on them. And if was fishing tomorrow would be what I’d  be running on SR great all round lumo lure the top gun goadby witch in lumo.
Need something newer though to replace black magic stripey 2s.

Yep mouse pukula lumo is great contender as well. Funny as have bigger rat original in lumo, was gifted many years ago and yet to run it.
