Fortunately he knew where to weave throughout harbour, as it’s very difficult to see in the early hours of the morning.
The current was swift and we anchored in the channel. The rig of choice for me was a strayline rig, a 8/0 circle hook, and a selection of fresh mullet, squid and salted mussels.
The bite was instant and we both caught a good feed. Nothing big for me. The fish varied from 36cm to 42cm. My favourite eating size. No signs of milky flesh. The snapper are also not as fatty as the Manukau species, but the heads are just as tasty.

Back to the boat ramp by 9am. It was really good to fish a new spot. A big shoutout to Sam and Banana Boat for the heads up.
