I've got the TI. I don't know if I turned the fish reveal beep on by accident when I set it up or if it's on by default. But it's horrible when there's heaps of sign. I had to Google how to turn it off as it wasn't in the obvious place.

I've adjusted it alot since I first installed it yes. Colours also which helps alot with the fish reveal. But the beeping the Sounder would make was just nuts, the navigation has a sound alarms menu but the beeper wasn't on it. I was on the water for the maiden after moving from a raymarine and just had to block it out till I got home and googled. I have the Navionics charts also, which pairs sweetly with the Navionics app.

I had the fish alarm going off on Saturday, which was impressive since it was picking up 20cm snapper.

It's been a while since I've taken my kayak out for a fish and since I've got a couple of weeks off for school holidays I thought I'd take the 5yo out for a blast at the local gurnies.

Only the three caught but had a few more bites that we missed that felt like gurnard. There are still lots of small snapper around that were a pain in the arse. Fresh mackies baits were best.

I have to say it was really hard to fish off the kayak with a 5yo on your lap, he's a bit big for this now. It might be time to think about buying a boat. Am I allowed to say that in here?

Yes buy a boat mate that was brave taking your boy out they get the wind wrong it could be a nasty day.

I had booked today off last week to watch my nans funeral in the UK who died last week. She must have gone up there and made sure it was a fishing day because the weather was mint. So this morning was live bait tank test day with a softbait to throw about. Headed out just before 7 and set the FF to fish reveal, very cool fish arches show up great over the downscan detail I am impressed. First 15 minutes throwing SBs yielded two snapper kept one pushing 60cm.

Had another 20 minutes catching and throwing back a couple more keepers back just holding off. Went for a paddle looking for macks but no luck again but saw good snapper sign and got another 3 nice ones for the chill bag. Finally saw some macks and actually foul hooked my first livie in ages and put the pump on and the livie tank was running. Then I actually caught another mackeral after the struggles mojo was returning.

Problem was there was no kings I paddled around looking intently but not showing up. I slowed up as I came across another mack school caught one and as I paddled away a hit and I happily wound up a JD and netted it. Next livie down by another mack school and it got thumped hard and I hooked what I thought was a kahawai that turned into a 10lb snap I released. I was getting livies at will and next one resulted in another JD that dropped off at the net. Another bait another JD hit and this time landed, then repeated my third JD was the biggest. 8 fish that was enough I got really comfortable in the Reload today and my whole livebait set up worked awesome.

Not often posting in here but read regularly. Sounds like a great (maiden?) voyage in the reload. A king would've been nice but the JDs are treat too

Good work with those JDs Muppet, some grand tucker there aye.
Interested to know if you were running the livies deep with weight or had them free-swimming. I don't tend to pick up many Dory when slow-trolling or towing livies behind the boat and only tend to do so then over shallower areas of reef.
Kingies were around Saddle Island last weekend, a pack were frolicking around the red bouoy but a few 10kg+ models were sniffing around biggish kys that were being played to the boat. Had one of 85cm a few weeks back locally on a straylined cut bait so it seems that a few stay around the coast over the colder months. Time to break out the kingie gear again perhaps.....

Not on yak but a spot i used to fish on kayak. The likes of Dan and others will know the haunts. Took awhile for these carrots to show up but steady flow started to come though just on the last 2 hard of outgoing and through slack into incoming. Ended up pulling pin around 1pm with 22 grunters in the bin between 2 anglers. Skippy was the bait for today

Ledger rig with a free sliding ten mouth swivel going between 1200mm of trace between two swivels. 4 ounce sinker on the bottom.

Is that just a swivel sliding up and down the trace?

Yeah Greg got them for slide baiters. Tell you what worked for me last week was dropping it down wind up a bit leave for two to five minutes. Then I paddled off slowly, four times I did that and the JDs hit it. The snapper hit harder though and I will add another stinger hook on the end of the trace.
