These two snapps I took were fine, but white flesh is a problem down my way, perhaps the ratio for me is one in eight are skinny and white, there are a lot of malnourished snapps, if that is what the problem is. I won't take skinny snapper, unless they swallow my gurnard recurves and are brown bread.
They few gurnard I took yesterday were in nice condition, all were well fed, but I threw back three fish with a skin virus, lymphocytis I think, usually I'd catch just one spotted fish in a session.
The stomach contents of the gurnard were the same as the snapps yesterday, small crabs and shrimps. One snapp had a small lobster in its stomach, it had front claws and a big flat tail, dunno? The bigger gurnard had a large prawn in there, and crabs, there are a couple of tasty patches of mud they are both fond of.
But God it was hard work paddling and fishing in the 15-25kt winds yesterday, still it was a chance to fish and get some exercise, Trotsky used to fish for exercise...I wonder if he could have fixed the damage commercial fishing is doing to the gulf...still unsure who to vote for on this issue.
