![]() Devonport wharf was great in the 70s,Mcfairlane had a mussel spat shed on the end of the wharf from memory, whitebait running, with kahawai there, the odd king, snapper, late summer/autumn. plenty of burley in the way of mussels. Then it all came to an end when fisheries said the netters were fishing out of season. NO claimed the netters we are catching inunga not not whitebait. Fisheries stepped in again, well you need 1 inch mesh. That pretty much killed the cottage industry and cheap sales of whitebait in Devonport, now I think pollution has driven it all away. Total thread drift I know.
