Ah ha .... who wants to make some adjustable indicators then ?

If so ... may I suggest that 3/16 ths may be too large & indicator will
tend to move down the leader once you start using it in earnest.

In any event I have a few dozen ....is but where are they is the question ... hunting for them might ease the lock down boredom!!

Always untangling the dropper.

Can't quite picture what you are doing but if the rubber bands are a problem maybe a small o-ring ? Lots of size choice. Or a length of powergum - make your own rubber band to suit.

Cheers .
Have thought about using a rubber O ring just not sure how much stretch there is in them.
I’ve some of the red power gum that I could have a play with but a small rubber or latex band would be the tidiest .

Wow I didn’t realise those bands of yours stretch out so far - so they’d fit over my fly rod blanks no problem .they might well be what I’m after then Bill, thanks for following up. I’ll send you a pm.

OK ... will have a hunt for them tomorrow ... am pretty sure of having
a few to spare as no longer use them to construct adjustable yarn indicators due to have found a more simple & effective method.

A major problem with using them is the bands seem to vary not only in size but also in stretch strength making it difficult to judge the correct amount yarn to avoid slippage. Can seem fine initially but after a couple of dunkings & casts unknowingly begins to slip until you discover it has & flies are barely sinking.

Rory, i have plenty of those rubber rings that are used to hold a "hook keeper" on to a rod blank. They do perish over time in left in the sun
Yours if you want them

Thanks Kevin, I’d be really by keen. It’s just a matter of finding something the right size and stretch.

Am sure there is a more substantial cache of them hidden away somewhere but managed to find a dozen & if any use for your purpose you are welcome to 1/2 of them which at least would establish if they are suitable or not.

I am still not quite sure how you expect them to function as I invariably fish two nymphs without problems tangling ... but maybe because I use a "truck & trailer" setup as opposed to a dropper arrangement.

Cheers Barry

OMG .... your posting that has jolted my memory to the fact the new season is a mere fortnight away & very doubtful we jaffas will be out of our travel restrictions whilst the rest of country will most likely enjoy free reign.

Hmnn ..... at the risk of being labelled a pessimist, might hold off buying a new season licence until can be certain will be able to use it !

We’ll get there Barry.
The bands are for when I’m moving from one spot to the next and not for when I’m actually fishing , sorry if I confused you.

Definitely I’d be keen, a few options have come up and I’m sure one will work great . I’ll post a picture or two once I’ve got it right .

And just to throw my 2 cents in. What about a piece of velco strap instead of a rubber band?

Velcro could work if you took it off the rod between being used and didn’t lose it.
I’ve seen an elastic band wound round the rod multiple times and that worked really well.
