Well the ramp stays but doubt anyone that normally uses it will be able to continue to with the new plan.
Parallel parking for a 4.5mtr boat.
No room to stop and prepare the boat to launch, except on the ramp.
Busses also pass the top of the ramp.

That is unless enough object and then they listen.

This is crazy: the population of Auckland is growing rapidly, boat usage i do not know but can't see it as being less than in proprtion to population.

How to complain?  i dont know.  Yet another development to line someone(s) pockets and a massive loss in public amenity.

Anyone have a link to where you can object?

Make the effort and get your submission in, there will be a lot of submissions against from the berthholders at the marina and their association, (as well as the auckland wide berthholders association) and those who agreed with the original Ngataringa Bay reclaimations solely because it would be publiclly available.

Unfortunately the usual path these developments follow is there is an initial proposal which meets limited opposition then a completely OTT amended proposal is announced resulting in an uproar of opposition then after a hiatus it is modified to a reduced scale the developers wanted in the first place leaving those in opposition feeling as tho they have won a victory.

This is what has happened here in Albany with selling much of the Massey University complex to Asian developers who intend building multi level residential apartments with scant thought towards providing parking etc whilst the council are content with the increase in revenue from rates whilst ignoring the ever increasing
need for transport, drainage, water supply etc. etc.
Scored a much needed hair cut this morning so now on the way to Mitre 10 to take back the hedge trimmer !!

True Bazza but this is the developer's second cut at this, so it has already been through the first level of uproar and revision and now has a lot more support at the AT/Council level than the previous "build apartments" approach that the same developer has got away with at Pine Harbour and would like to do at Hobsonville Marina.

Standing back and complaining later that your access has been reduced and the parking is abysmal won't achieve anything, get a submission in now.

My interest is as a berth holder at Hobsonville where we have currently stymied the AT/Council plan to sell land currently owned by the council and protected by an act of parliament for marine purposes only to the same guy who owns all 3 marinas.

Both proposals basically involve taking away the current car parking immediately adjacent to the piers and replacing it either further away or less accessible/dedicated and changing the basic purpose of the original development from a marina/boat harbour to a residential area which will see ongoing contention in the future about the actiivities that normally occur at a marina being incompatible with residential developments once they are fully occupied.

Auckland area sure needs more ramps, no fewer. We use Kawakawa bay club ramp when boating in the Gulf and it is too busy at times even with the great Ramp staff on duty.

Still reading though docs buts here's a survey for those that have or do use it

And here's part of an email that arrived so those of you that want to read it but cannot access a library

Council decisions preventing informed public submissions

Please email [email protected] to request a full set of printed documents. Provide your address and these will be couriered to you free of charge. Read below for more info.

The council has decided to proceed with publicly notifying the Bayswater Resource Consent application, despite it not being possible to view the design or documents at a library or council office.

The developer has used lawyers to push through the notification of their RC application while we are at Lvl 3 despite a recent news article stating they are open to genuine community submissions.

Rather than make it publicly available at libraries and council offices as is required, the council has decided to provide hard copies to anyone that requests them.

If you could get enough people to apply to have the plans sent to them the council would probably struggle to do it.  It would be a huge inconvenience to them and prove that people are interested in this and they can't get away with doing this on the quiet with no one noticing.

Update

The only area to prep your boat prior to launch or pack up is the ramp.
You will need to reverse down a public road over a pedestrian crossing while turning onto the ramp
After launching you will need to parallel park your car and trailer in a park that allows for a length of 5.5mtrs.  Tow-bar to outboard.  That is if you can find one after driving around the complex.

NONE of these users will be able to access the ramp.

So if you use this ramp you wont be soon,  unless........
I believe the Berth Holders Association is asking for donations,  if you want to donate send me a PM.

What is also of interest is an economic assessment the Developer has presented as a reason why the ramp, hard stand and park is not feasible.  A development makes more money.

Should this reason be accepted all our clubs (fishing sailing) ramps and any outdoor community parks are in danger.

PLEASE MAKE A SUBMISSION.

I agree - even if it wont directly affect you (as wont want to use this ramp), its important to make a submission, pointing out everything thats wrong with the proposal. I have emailed to ask for the plans, and I will formulate a submission, which will be - horrified.

Thanks,

What is also a concern is that an economic report done for the developer states that the use of trailer parking/boat storage is unfeasible.  This is simply because housing is more feasible, in the short term financial gain of some.

If this statement is accepted many of our local fishing/sailing clubs are also in jeopardy.

Please sign and share far and wide.  Out of the area comment that foreshore space and ramps are important to the public anywhere.

Im formulating a submission.

Has anyone had experience of trying to get a boat trailer into a parallel park?
Is it possible?
How?

Considering the size they have allowed it may be possible for the few that have a trailer and boat of this size.

The boat ramp and the parking is on private land. It is the only privately owned boat ramp in Auckland according to the Council website. Whilst it would be a bummer for it to go the reality is that the land owner can do whatever they like. If they are retaining the boat ramp and providing parking and that is all they have to do I can't see how complaining about it will change a thing. Last time I participated in a consent process I learned pretty quickly that the process doesn't really take into consideration how many people are opposed but instead focusses on the rules and consultants giving their opinion on whether the proposal meets the rule book requirements.
