Quick advice on two points. I'm getting back into spearfishing after a 2 year career focused ****e time. :)

Got a gun yesterday, looking very good, but has double wrap on. I've always used single wrap and was wondering whether it is worth the effort to try out the double wrap or to just single wrap it?

The funny weights sold by Oceanhunter. Any tips on wedging them open when stuck on a belt. I bought the weights with the gun but they seem a bit "stuck" to the belt, by the looks of it a little "hammered" onto it. I need to add one more weight to it and would like to pop them on a different belt with a different configuration obviously for my sexy frame.

Sooo.
I've been out fishing 4 times so far, and have managed to score nothing.

I've been honing my target practice to black snapper (something about red moki being frowned upon...), and still missing like a bugger.

When you are aiming down the gun, how important is it to bring it up to eye level when shooting?

As a noob myself, I always bring it to eye level and look down the spear. I'm just not good though to hit them otherwise and I hate reloading my gun after hitting nothing or a rock.

Black snapper also known as parore? Maybe don't put it too close to your face though and stick to only one gun until you get comfortable and accurate. Every fish you gut shot and lose today is going to die and cost us 1000 more tomorrow. You might have to try a few different things until you find what works Best for you.

Do some target shooting under water. Attach some sort of a target to your float and then shoot until you get it right.

Good idea.
Tension on the bands going to make any difference to aiming point?

Really don't want to fully load the gun any more than nessecary - heard its not great for the bungee. Also, 18mm rubbers can suck.

Maybe someone would want to give you billions if you give your internet banking access details to them when you click that link. Like Nigerians, who can be trusted completely.

cheap weight system for gatherer in surf suit?

i have a wettie mask and pipe. im just using long fin snorkel fins at the mo (but may upgrade those soon). generally i just snorkel but would like to nab some of the bugs i see from time to time or even some kinda and even just to get down to the fish easier.

a rubber belt is the best way to go? at 100kg and a 3/2 suit, what weight should i buy to start without over spending money on lead.

Fizfisho. i did a simalar thing slowly upgrading my gear. It would have worked out a lot  cheaper if i brought a package. ocean hunter, and i'm sure the other 2 shops have good package option.

Gut shots are ok, saves the fillet as well, I've lost more fish to high shots than I ever have to a gut shot, I wouldn't worry about costing us all a 1000 fish tomorrow. 2 ways to aim looking down the barrel/ end of spear and levelling, or sighting down the side of the barrel.

Last thing I'd say to a newby, is that fish you lost has just cost us all a 1000 fish. That's a dick comment.
Noone wants to lose fish, but it happens to everyone experienced or not
