Ok guys so i've managed to scam some time off work in about 2 weeks and i've always wanted to go stay down in the coromandel area for about 4 days and get a good few days fishing in so now me and the mrs are finally gona go do it.

Just want some advice on good campgrounds with cabins or other basic accommodation, dont want anything flash, thought about sleeping in the boat but then again it'd be nice to have a proper bed to sleep in. And also some info on the boat ramps in the area.
I've seen that the guys on Big angry fish stay at Long Bay campground but I see this boat ramp is only good for launching at high tide... I would prefer a ramp that is all tides as I intend on staying on the water all day.

I'm not asking to give away your fishing spots, just some help and recommendations on all the other parts to make my trip a good one as I have never been to the area before.

Cheers

Me and mrs where at long bay on the weekend sussing out the boat ramp you are so right about low tide..... I don't think it would take very long if you stayed at long bay motor camp and towed the boat around to te koma I'm guessing a10 min drive... Heaps of fishing spots around there.

yep see below, all you could want - heaps of room for the boat (and secure), short drive to a few ramps, short walk to the pub, fresh eggs in the morning!

Thanks for the info guys, i'll definately keep that in mind corokidThumbs Up Hopefully I'll be able to make this a regular trip so I may explore a few different areas along the way.

Can any of you guys give me a list of the all tide boat ramps in the area? That would be much appreciated.

I go to Tapu all the time and stay at the camp, it's great with the pub right across the road to share the one that got away stories and the waikawau boat ramp is only 10 minutes away and usually able to launch right through the tidesWink
