    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.fishing.net.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=75508">scuzzymoto</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Surf Rod Blanks<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 10 May 2026 at 6:05pm<br /><br />Thought I better do an update on rods-<div><br></div><div>Built the S7 Blanks from CTS- exceptional design and construction, can understand why the S7 rods have a very following in the USA&nbsp; check out this guy builds a nice rod-&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http:////www.facebook.com/groups/1331071417463967/user/100002504747574/%20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http:////www.facebook.com/groups/1331071417463967/user/100002504747574/ </a></div><div>Surf Stix all built on CTS S7 and the odd Vapor Trail recommend a gander..</div><div><br></div><div>I gave the 2 x CTS S7 rods I built to my son for his 21st ($3k worth) hes enjoying them.</div><div><br></div><div>I ended up meeting a rod builder in the Naki that showed me a&nbsp; blank he has designed in conjunction with CTS for NZ fishing, these have a had import from some of the best surf fisherman in NZ, 2 x 14 footer equal sections also 1 piece if wanted , being around rod blanks and rods/tackle&nbsp; for approx 30 years and these would have to be one of the best 5oz rods I have fished in the surf. Ive had best success down towards rhe Mechanics bay end. Jack Mack livies are the go to bait and have found best success on the out going tide. An early  high tide is perfect as you can catch your livies easily.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Fish the livies close like 3-4m from shore. Its great fun have even caught a few good snaps on the surface... ]]>
