HI THERE DUNNIT,I WAS ON THE RIVER YESTERDAY(MY LOCAL)& HEARD  THROUGH THE GRAPE VEIN THAT MR.M CAUGHT 27KG OF BAIT  FOR THE WEEK ON HIS RIVER.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE SAME STORY!!YOU MIGHT HAVE TO BRING YOUR NET OUT OF EARLY RETIREMENT??

When we were kids catching sprats we would get the occasional 'bycatch' of fish we called cucumber fish. My mate reckoned they were smelt. Is that what they are? This season has been a non event around these parts. I wonder if the big floods over winter had an effect.
