I agree with the slow moving thing, My comment was more aimed at the advice to tow them. they do have good erratic action though when worked slowly.

The instructions on the pack suggest pointing the rod directly at the lure as you say with a slow retreive, I often  mix it up with a long moderate speed sweep of the rod tip, which sees the lure,  increase its caddence, then dip downwards as the slack is taken up.

I haven't seen too  many bait  fish swim slowly wriggling in one direction, especially with a predator up its jaxi, I think an erratic action can often prompt a strike...

would be good to troll off the back of your yacht i reckon, on a summers evening

Even dropped to the bottom (40M) where there is plenty of sign and wound to the surface many times - no takers.

 

Other than the WAXWING - would love to hear any other reccomendations for stick baits to test in the next couple of weekends

Swimming them in front of fish is the hard bit.......... Once they wiggle in front its only a matter of time :)

Bottom pick is a the 4.5 inch wax wing and the 185 ocea pencil with a paint job by me with the black...wish they did the daddy in that black/silver but they dont.

p.s I know the hook on the ocea is the wrong way up....just for photo thats all....Hope this was of some help to you
