Yep RAL that first fish gave me a lesson, we cracked the drag up hard after that one to the point where the fish we landed did not pull any string at all - but they did drag me around the boat a bit.

Seemed to do the job OK and fitted in the luggage saving on the extra fee that would otherwise be charged by Air NZ for the additional luggage over and above one bag each ($75 for each leg).  Rod cost just under $300.00.
 
Alan, we did not get to try evening fishing for the GTs but I did float a livey around the harbour for a few hours where we spotted a fish on the first day.  Something came and chased it around but did not take it.  Apparently a couple of GTs were hooked up in the harbour the previous week.  I had a GT chase a popper to my feet when casting from shore at the western side of the airfield.
