    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.fishing.net.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=76145">PoppinTonga</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 74616<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 17 Jan 2012 at 10:25pm<br /><br />If you keep the stuff lite, there is the chance of Bluefin Trevally,&nbsp;&nbsp;but they pull really hard for their size. &nbsp;I would not go lighter than 15kg braid on a softbait rig with small poppers. &nbsp;It would be better if it was 24kg just for the stopping power. &nbsp;Bluefin Trevally can live in really shallow water and are masters at turning around shallow bommies. &nbsp;<div><br></div><div>My wife fishes a lot with bait. &nbsp;Mainly the belly of other fish. &nbsp;You will not find any bait shops in Tonga. &nbsp;The locals use the hermit crabs to catch their first fish. &nbsp;She catches Snapper, Barred Perch, Barracuda, Trevally and other reefies.</div>]]>

Try out Ha'atafu out that way drive to the end of road, walk out to the point. But plenty of accessible coastline to go wet a popper. I had a few casts out there but wasn't really set up for it, I will be when I return. Just give it heaps bro.<br>]]>
