This question has been asked while Mr. Konishi did a talk at YEEHAA last year. use split ring and solid ring rig will give the lure better action but it also makes the lure harder to swim. The leader can be caught by the hook, because the lure movement gets bigger.
The most easy way to swim a gamma is to use a chain knot on the gamma

Tony, I see from the Carpenter website (http://www.carpenter.ne.jp/2011.12.8.nz-king/newpage3.html) that the Carpenter guys are using a split ring and solid ring connection to the leader.
