Nah, since i have started this project, I have now seen all sorts of different size centre Console boats ranging from 14ft to 20ft, fibreglass, alloy, to softies. I am surely sold. This is the way to go if you are serious about fishing. Yes, a lot more care regarding safety must be brought into the equation. ie large wave over the front. I've learnt about scuppers and how they work. I have two extra pumps in the boat. From what ive read, side consoles which they have quite a few of in ozzy are ment to be driven whilst sitting and are mainly for inshore. It is also a bit off balance.

Do a google search on' side or centre console' there are a few discussions about it.

Well, I'm going from side mount to centre Console. I've driven a CC and a SM, and I personally reckon I had more control and awareness with the CC. When travelling at pace across the Kaipara, I was able the watch others, and the incoming swell with ease. But I have crossed with me SM cabin boat, but just did not feel that at ease to push it. I'm thinking of using aluminium posts etc. for the cover over my head, something similar to Mr BROWN's post above. I have been told it must be anodised. Surely a 6086 standard marine alloy would be ok?
