Catch a bus out to waldronville and fish the estury there on the incoming tide. There are a few locals who catch the odd large trout there. Use something small and silver to imitate whitebait / smelt at this time of year. The mouth of the Leith, whilst not too interesting produces a few fish at this time of year also.

Ah ok, I never found the southern reservoir to be that productive to be honest, but haven't fished there in a while. Best spots I found were the shallower waters on the other side from the entrance and that little inlet pipe. Pretty much the same lures as for Sullivans dam though, but add on a rainbow trout coloured Super Kobra (better style of tazzie devil) was my favourite for there as it gets deep, casts miles and catches fish!

ive fished there but im talking about the reservoir on townslys road its just finding a way to good spot since mums always at work i like fishing rivers alot more exciting haha

I'm assuming you mean Sullivan's dam? If you go to the rocky shallow end that is where the fish are released and although it doesn't look as good as the nice deep end it is generally the more productive area. I found the soft minnow storm lures worked well, as with articulated rapalas.

If you ever get into fly-fishing use an sort of woolly bugger or a damsel nymph, caught loads on these up there.

Have you been out on the lower Taieri? I was out there a few days ago and while I only caught a wee tiddler the river is in good condition with decent flow but still relatively clear.
