yep - thats the way to do it - so you cant see them when you are fishing

Yeah that's how I do mine, don't use any tape though but I think the tape method makes sense , now I've seen it.. Now let's have a debate about whether to put the ends on top of the rod or under neath! looks more like an inlay to me ... HA HA.....
 
I do mine completely differently to this too - maybe its an older methid.....I'll take pics next time I do them ......
