Retied a little PR last night and noticed the braid was massively twisted above the knot. The other consideration is line twist, which can over time reduce the breaking strain of Braid. The problem tends to be more pronounced at the terminal end of the line as twists work their way here owing to the physics of casting and retreiving. Was doing a bit of casting in the weekend when I busted my braid on a cast. The break happened because of a small wind knot that only briefly tangled but then unraveled itself. However the braid snapped about 1m and a half form the joining knot and the braid, leader and lure went sailing away.

The braid was Daiwa Samurai 55lb. My question is is this normal to happen as I thought it was very weird because surely there was not more than 55lb of pull on the line as it tangled momentarily. Was there a fault in the braid? Or was it just angler error? Any ideas? Or should I just respool with a different braid? Would hate fort it to part while playing a fish in open water.
