Fly fished Keywest, Islamorada and the Everglades.
 
For the Keys DIY form now to August... outflows/channels at the base of the highway bridges are a great place to start as they concentrate large numbers of bait fish. Great places for targeting barracuda and jack travel and mangrove jacks, early morning and evening. Try night time under any pylon lights as well.

Good idea is to hire a yak as bones frequent inshore reefs and atolls very close to the main islands although they are very wary due to high fishing pressure.




And if you get the chance don't forget the snook and redfish... great sport.

There are plenty of guides down there and some will even point you in the right direction after buying them a beer at the pub.

Sure is Tarpon season....... although I've found that the flats are only really accessible by boat.

Had a wee fish this morning off one of the Tampa area beaches, got some nice Speckled Sea Trout didn't see any Snook.

Came across a Manatee a rod length away then 3 Dolphins a rod length away.... this place is nuts!!!

Will let you know how the Keys go, looks like the place to be......

Hi, It's been a while since I've posted on the Salt Fly Forum.

I've found myself in Florida with a spare two week gap coming up in Key Largo...... armed with a Sage #8 Xi3 floating line set up.

Has anyone fished Key Largo and have any advice. I have flies suitable for all species and have no preference on what I'm catching. The main thing is staying shore based, wading to spots or possibly Kayaking at the most. Google Earth has helped a little bit in finding some close flats, but if anyone else can point me in some direction that would be great.
