I have also thrown them for GTs and got some good fish on them.  The hooks and rings need to be changed. Its the leverage that kills lures and hooks with kings.
 
Have seen Jobus straightend,and high end lures pulled to bits,it comes down to how they are hooked,which hook and the pressure you put on them.
That was all kingfish around the 15-25kg range.
 
In the case of the jobus they were on the tail of a orion crazy dog-no swivel on the belly or wire on the tail,they are tough lures with no give so the hooks bares the brunt of the fight.
 
Have seen QUALITY timber lures crack under the strain also.
 
As long as lures are wired through i think ther is no issue,you may wreck the lure but you will stay connected.

Yea  ive caught a few fish round 15 to 20kg off the boat with these and no probs at all. a bigger fish in the 30s may be different, I must say with no teeth or reel jaw crushing power the should be fine for kings.

i have not hooked a GT on them, but i have used them a little bit, they swim nice and put out a great bubble trail.... but

i agree with niral, they are plastic and have no wire through them so a good fish can crush them and you are only attached with a bit of plastic.

the photos below are of a williamson jet popper that caught a 127kg striped marlin in rarotonga 2009, (trolling the popper) the hooks were replaced and owner trebles were used, you can see that the fish had crushed the popper and it was (un)lucky to be caught, unlucky for the fish, lucky for the angler!
