Regs state that the 600mmx600mm flag must be flown by boats when divers are in the water - there is nothing that states a minimum size for dive flags on floats. Yes it does sound like they are saying that I should have had a big as float and flag, even though I was closer to the rocks than any swimmer would have been...

At least the Maritime guys could have mentioned that we are not classified as divers (but swimmers), and therefore we are not required to carry a flag of any kind... (that is only done by most because people in boats are not thinking)
