Apart from rock-abrasion, I think that can be limited with a good shock leader. I use about 4-8metres. Be aware that I use a glove for casting as I will not like the braid to cut my fingers when loading up the rod.

However my main fear is if the braid wraps around my guides and when you cast, the guides will fly together with your sinker and all.

Other than that, bite-sensitivity is unparalleled.

The 950 has the heavy duty drag so will handle big whatever

Is more a boat reel than surfcast, but will do. Did you get it separate or combo, buy the reel & $20 more get a rod....

Hasn't been a problem so far, other than the first couple of meters of braid, getting a bit frayed. When this happens, I just cut it off and start again. I have never had it break, ever! I also found that using braid, did increase my casting distance, I put this down to less friction as the line passes through the rod eyes.
