Author: Nepptune
Subject: 54289
Posted: 08 Jun 2010 at 7:44pm

Hey Catch,

Thanks mate, just wish I had more time fishing than tackle collecting!!!

The Pilchard patterns you refering to are Smith Baby Runbohs.... they have been one of the most sought after Tuna casting lures for the last 18 months or so, mainly do to Gmann's popularising them with a bunch of his articles and reports on the US BFT fishery, and this being his favourite go to lure...

So of course they all got bought up and became like hens teeth, and so the price went along with it... I thankfully bought my batch from a guy selling a bunch of lures and I don't think he realised what he could get for them... he mails me every month trying to buy them back!! :-)

The recurve trebles you are refering to are in fact Gamakatsu GT Recorders... Barbless Trebles that are unfortunately also as rare as Hens teeth these days in the bigger sizes... they are the only Trebles I know of that go past a 5/0 size.... they go right up to 10/0 if I'm not mistaken... the ones I've got on there are 8/0....

I am moving towards more single hook rigs on poppers and stickbaits, but not completely... the action on our big Ulua Darkstars and such is so incredible with two trebles, its tough to switch, although I'm sure a Baker rig will get the same result.... I guess I just love the look of a 200 gram stick bait with 2 x 8/0 shiny Trebles hanging off it.... :)
