I understand that the Americans in particular have been using wd40 for a few years. It is so widely used in fact, that some state authoritys have taken measures  to restrict it or ban it because of envro. implications.

It is quite a hot topic on the American fishing scene.

Before this topic goes completely off the rails , heres something i discovered

The Bent One is right, get on down and I'll bet you have 10 plus offers of a chance to sample the local water. I've met a small sample of the eclectic mix that regularly contribute to this site in Auckland. Adventure awaits. If you were in the same trade here and it was raining you would be sheltering in Show Girls untill fine weather made it safe to venture outdoors. Then you would go fishing, fit in a days work to show SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) that you are a family man, pop down to the bikini night at your local booze barn for a few games of pool then sleep the sleep of the innocent. Mr Penguin, do not worry about not understanding the language, I am born and bred kiwi and usually I can't understand what the **** these MOFO'S are talking about.

As for this thread on WD40  it worries me that someone on here will decide that crude oil would be a good fish attractant. I can just see a flotilla of forum members off to sink a tanker and fish in the burley slick.......................

Good on you Penguin .. like all countries NZ has its problems, mainly weather related and how it affects the number of days we can go fishing, but its a paradise in my humble opinion and I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Look forward to your arrival. I can tell you that this forum is populated by some very fine people who are happy to take others fishing in their boats and get together for forum fishing trips (and the not-so-occasional pissup). I've met and fished with a few and thoroughly enoyed it. I'm looking forward to doing a lot more and joining more forum get togethers later in the year.
