Ah yeah, just took a look at how thick that tail is, not surprised he weighed that much!  I weighed him at 8.5lbs, though what you don't see from the photo is how wide he is,
I thought I had hit a snag at first, took me 5 minutes to realise...Embarrassed

Unfortunately I came back empty handed... since I released this beauty Big%20smile

Very windy while I was up there and I'm not confident enough with my fly-rod yet to cast in the sort of gale. Got this on my spin rod near Makarora township.
No trouble with sand flies, though saw lots of repellent for sale.
