Then use the vhf and arrange a pickup. Saw nothing at all, hopefully the fish will be closer in after this latest crap clears.</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.fishing.net.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=70104">Paul P</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 37532<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 24 Feb 2009 at 2:18pm<br /><br />I had a marlin up on a livebait last week, was in 66m off Tapuae (not in the reserve) It was playing with the surface bait but wouldn't eat, I pulled it in expecting to find the bait shredded, but was unmarked and swimming, the fish then moved to the downrigged bait and continued to pull small amounts of string. This lasted maybe five minutes during which time I saw a long slender black fin, a shark would have shredded the baits and a shark fin this definitely was not.<DIV>Heading back out tomorrow to get the real proof, anyone wants to come they are welcome but be prepared for white sharks, 15kn souwesterlys and a long paddle.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Tight lines.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>PS, snapper are easy, go&nbsp;get a real fish!!!<img src="http://www.fishing.net.nz/asp_forums/uploads/70104/31lb_06.jpg" height="337" width="450" border="0" /></DIV>]]>

We went out in a boat on Thursday, they were from 40m behind the islands to 110m. We were throwing poppers to them while snapper fishing on the way home in 50m. We didn't see any marlin while troling though. Back to the kayak of BB this week.&nbsp;]]>
