Good one Mangre.There seems to be a fair few broadbill that move in close to white island during April and again june and july.We once caught a broadbill in it's waters when we set a surface longline shot over the bluenose grounds.A recreational fisher must've hooked the fish of a lifetime without even knowing it.The broadbill still had a two hook puka rig still attached to it with a lightstick between the two hooks. Quite amazed that still managed to eat the Sanmar we used for bait.

What type of vessel did you head out to the Ngatoros in?

Big Blue sharks, think we may of had a hit, but dropped off, diddnt really know what we were doing, chunked all night for a tuna, no luck. it was maybe around feb time.

freaky out there with white Island out of sight.

Wetspot, that must be it.. ?

Yip you're right there Mangre. We used to tangle with a few of the big brutes also.Did you tend to get a few Makos when you were at the Ngatoro's.Thats one thing about targeting broadbill,the damn Makos can make a nuicence of it thats for sure. What time of the year did you head out there?.There's Swords on them, good for the early bigeye oct-nov also.

Kurt- Were you heading out of the Bay of Islands mate0.

Ive raised a couple, early november in past . They say that some bird species came into wellington a month early this spring due to early movments of warm air current/water etc . Im guessing things might kick off early if these muppets know what they are on about.

Early november they ll be there.
