Mosts rich people tend to start out with a simple idea that many people can use, therefore its a big money winner, this takes a lot of planning, communication and ingenuity. </DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>As long as you put yourself as forward as you can be generally things will fall into place, if you half arse thing you wont go anywhere, thats just how it is.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>It makes no difference what you do at school, you can pick up classes at any time. On a regular day I may be having an in depth conversation with someone worth many Billions of dollars. </DIV><DIV>Do I want to have that much money? Hell no.</DIV><DIV>Do I want to be comfortable. Hell yes. </DIV><DIV>I spend every day living in a house thats worth tens of millions of dollars, its moves every couple of weeks, or sooner if we dont like the neighbours. i dont pay rent, or food, or toiletries, or rates or income tax (I'm registered as a non-resident for tax in New Zealand)</DIV><DIV>All the money I make goes into the bank (offshore account). The first two years you drink and party and piss it up against the wall. </DIV><DIV>The next few years you save and spend it all on doing courses to make more money. Then you get off the deck and become an officer (Capt or 1st mate)</DIV><DIV>I've seen a fair chunk of the world on someone elses dime. I just finished up on the yacht here in alaska after seeing Kodiak island and Prince william sound. I dove places that have NEVER seen someone in the water before. </DIV><DIV>There are many down sides to the job, you dont get to go home at the end of the day. </DIV><DIV>But, you can make a Lot of money in a short time. And if you manage it right, you can retire early, while still having a blast seeing the world.</DIV><DIV>A few friends of mine have done 10 years in this game and have the ability to have a yacht of their own.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Right now I'm taking a proper holiday. I fly from Anchorage to London on tuesday, spend a month running around the UK, and then fly to Venezuela for a month. How many jobs do you know of where you could save to do that in three months?</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.fishing.net.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=54488">Snoop</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 31881<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 28 Aug 2008 at 10:01pm<br /><br />I concur with BimJimsty.&nbsp; I slogged it out for 5 years at uni&nbsp;to get three shiney pieces of decorative paper.&nbsp; Hard work, attitude, integrity and vision opens the doors in life... get yourself a trade, work hard, start a business and make it happen.&nbsp; The guys that make it in the IT industry I'm in are hard working, motivated, and never let a tertiary qualification get in the way of opportunities.&nbsp; Infact, one of my mates is an IT manager with no tertiary qualification and his words were "I've never been turned down for an interview over a the lack of a qualification".&nbsp; He has attitude man!&nbsp;&nbsp;A uni qualification is a nice thing to have if you want to go into a specialist field or are clear about what you want to do.&nbsp; I saw a lot of young people at uni who were "just not there" and doing the uni thing because "that's what your supposed to do".&nbsp;&nbsp;When I interview people, it's about 14th on the list of priorities.&nbsp; If uni is not your thing, that's cool, don't worry just get into whatever you can work wise, trade wise and look to set up your own business in time.&nbsp; My bro-in-law is a plumber and has seen the world and I respect his skills and work ethic...&nbsp; Plus, when your working you earn money which means you can go diving!&nbsp; Attitude, drive... ]]>

Best of luck.</div></td></tr></table> <br /><br />have to strongly disagree.....<br /><br />Don't go to uni,... unless it is for a degree that you can't skip (eg. doctor, phsio, lawyer, accountant ect) <br />don't go and work at a supermarket.....<br /><br />start working for yourself straight away.<br />for example at your age i was working every moment i could mowing the neighbors lawns.  then i put out flyers to all their neighbors.... then asked them to recommend me to others....  then i got too busy so i got a friend of mine to start the mowing and i rode my bike around and put more flyers in letterboxes. saying exactly who i was and that i wanted to mow their lawns.......<br />anyway at 15 i had 3 mates working for me mowing peoples lawns. i paid them all $15 per lawn.. i charged the people $25 per lawn... they were getting paid better than anywhere else at the time..... we were all mowing about 4 lawns a day on the weekend and about 5 each during the week after school. before all the costs that's $720 a week in my pocket. after fuel, mowers ect i used to end up with about $450 a week (on a good week)<br />people want to help out young kids. use your head and your age to your advantage....... clean windows, weed gardens, mow lawns.  easy things to sell to people.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;all this is experience on how to start a small business.  do this every holiday doing something different. At the time you leave school you will have hopefully made a ton of mistakes that didn't cost you lots of money (like they do later on in business) and learnt heaps. <br /><br />rant over.  <br /><br /> ]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.fishing.net.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=45850">Bounty Hunter</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 31881<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 27 Aug 2008 at 9:54pm<br /><br />yeah - had a friend on the big flash boats - he wasnt a diver - but it sounded like a good gig - he didnt have any quals apart from just being switched on and having a few streetsmarts. did say though that ideally some sort of engineering quals is ideal do progress - as in being able to maintain the boats systems - not necessarily fix the motor, but sort out thinks like when the aircon didnt go, or the davits got jammed - even just being able to work all the entertainment systems...<br><br>wouldnt mind trying to do it myself for a bit, but possibly a bit late for me.<br>]]>
