Hi Ian, I have just brought (last week) a new trailer for my 5.8m.
The prices do vary greatly from manufacturers but do have a look around.
 
The quotes i recieved were well below your quote, in the end I went for a Brooker Trailer 1718 (trailer direct). These come from Auz and are assembled here.
 
My boats about 1000kg with fuel on the trailer. The trailer is rated to 1500kg. In saying that i haven't yet tried her out yet.

I bought one of those made in China, assembled in Auckland, $500 12ft dinghy trailers on trade-me. Only had it 4 weeks, but its doing the job really well! Im stoked with it. The eqivalent locally made trailer was much better built, but 3 times the price. Get what Ya pay for, but I dont regret My cheapie. Im thiking a 6 meter boat would definately be worth a decent trailer 2 go with it, so if it were Me, I would have a look at them all and then make a decision.

Ian, at 530 kgs your boat is not that heavy, so even with motor, gear and fuel, u won't need a massively strong trailer. Provided the asian sourced trailer complies and can pass a warrent, plus is galvanised and made for salt water I can't see how you can lose. I have bought an alloy hull, 5.8m (530kg hull only) and need a traielr. I have been quoted $6100 plus gst for a nz made new single axle unbraked trailer. on Trademe there are soem much cheaper new trailers. I gather the frame is from asia and assembled here with NZ made bits, winch hubs lights etc. Does anyoen think this is a bad idea, that they are not upto the job?
