Moocha - Yeah, it's a hard one alright.......I'm thinking more separate, like 20 metres apart on the beach with something between them or even 2 rod stands 1-2 metres apart with some kind of rod or bar to keep them separate, pull on some kind of rig that releases the bar, dropping it and swinging back to the seahorse......wind the sea horse in and walla! Sleepy

An interesting problem there Carl preventing the mainline tangling with the seahorse line......I am sure there is an even mor eunique and creative solution to the problem.

Dam good idea Carl,had a few laughs reading this thread,why not put a winch on the front of the jeep,put my mustard golden hook on,then throw a pig on it,but how the hell you get it out will be the challenge hahahahaWink,go get em. Funny you mention that, Dad has one of those Kontikis.
 
Only thing is I have no idea how I could make it work without tangling my mainline, letting it release my bait and get it back to shore leaving my mainline and bait out there. It would be pulling 2 lines out, one for bait one for the horse itself.....a tangle is sure to happen. 
 
Haven't put too much thought into yet but the main problems persuaded me to forget about it......
 
Any ideas are welcome.

Different sharks like different tides, for example the Bronze tends to strike 30 minutes before, during & 30 minutes after low tide, the Tiger shark however strikes 30 each side of the high and this has been confirmed by one of Australias best LBG Shark fisherman, Doug (we keep in contact). This is the small window you get to fish them, Doug is the man at shark fishing and landed a 300kg Tiger last Wednesday.
 
Also, 1 week either side and during the new moon is one of the greatest pieces of advice I can give you......this is the "action" period.
 
The ideal fishing conditions would be A New moon period - If low tide is at 11pm, pull up at a beach 7-8pm and fish the change of light and make sure you're gear is in place for the low tide. Fish the low for Bronze sharks then fish through the night and fish the incoming tide along with the change of light for Tigers, you rarely hear of good sized catches been taken during sunlight hours, if possible always fish the change of light and during the night.
 
Distance wise, distance means nothing, always fish the ledges. If you can read a beach it's the colour change in the water, light blue then dark blue lines this is the current and ledge area, go about 20-50 metres past this point and drop the bait. If the ledge is 500 out, drop it 520, if the ledge is 200 out drop it 220 and so on. No need to drop your bait at the horizon every time you go out, fish the ledge or the "fish highway".

I think there's a small kite rig you could use to send the baits out. Not that familiar with kite fishing but looked at something for this kind of thing a while back and I think you can release it from rod and line once out there - someone may be able to confirm this.  You'd be able to fish a bigger range of wind speeds. Now I've got the means to get the spots, I'm hoping to have a crack at some sharks from the beach out from Parengarenga in the far north in Feb. Picking up some useful info, cheers. How's night fishing for them compared to day? Great idea by the wayCool

2 or 3 ballons inside a rubbish bag or just balloons them self. I like a good offshore but nothing to wild, 25-30knots is perfect in my opinion, with the bigger game reels on the market sending a bait out 600+ metres is easily achievable while still leaving 400 metres fighting line, depends where you go to, where I go there are deep shelves right in close so I really only need to send the baits out 200-300 metres, but I guess the further you go out the deeper and wider the range., I'm no pro though just love this style of fishing so what I say isn't the only way. Big smile
 
I've seen these new snap floats made by Aqua Gem. Your line slides through both ends and you "break" the float into 2 and place rubber bands to hold it in this position, when the fish strikes the float snaps closed and is now free sliding on your main line, easy to fish and environmentally friendly. I'm not sure yet as they are small (3x13") and I just can't see them pulling out 10kg+ baits, 1 Kahawai, yes, but anything else...not sure?
 
Depending I'll throw on some 10-15 ounce sinkers to stabilize the rig and keep everything nicely in place. My traces are about 25ft-30ft, I yank the rod/line and have the bag/balloons pull off there-for dropping my bait to the sea bed.
 
Finatic - True, I'll have to make a beer holder, I was thinking of putting on on the jeeps tailgate tyre area as when it's open it's right next to me.
