What Kandrew said. Overnight is enough. They will die if you put them in the fridge. I leave mine in the shade with a wet sack over the top, let them spit some sand out.

In the absence of festive scallops, my son and I harvested some cockles. I'm leaving them in 6L saltwater overnight to get rid of the sand, but wondered whether it was best to leave the bucket in the fridge at air temperature as it's pretty warm at the moment?
