I just brought a uniden as a spare for my life jacket belt, and in addition  to the consult mounted uniden in the cabin.
 Works fine just sort of the 12 mile limit on the west coast.

 Hangs off the belt on the opposite side to the PLB

Over kill maybe, but then the cells dont work well out there.

It is handy to have the small one when /if something comes up on the main unit.. dont need to go to the cabin.

Hi team.
Just looking for a recommendation for a handheld vhf.
Normally kayak fishing out from Tauranga or on lake Taupo.
