Thanks for the help, definitely am no big unit haha my 60pd jig rod i can only just use that to its full potential for 15mins on a big ray. Your TLD25 will be fine mate. Fish sensible drags and you should have no problem. Given you are only 16 I'd guess you probably aren't a huge unit so would probably struggle to handle a drag setting heavy enough to wreck the reel.

Heaps of people fish TLD25s wih 24kg line and sure you will be undergunned if you happen to hook that fish off a lifetime but plenty of good kingfish have been landed with that combo.

The beast master was the forerunner to the TLD 50 I think.
Novembar/December are my 2 busiest months so theres no promises but will see if I can OK

Ive got some good gear but nothing big ive got a shimano biomaster 8000pg but that will only hold braid and i know what happens to braid on rocks, ive also got an okuma cortez which is graphite but much sturdier and more compact than a tld better drag too but small, i have tried putting a topshot of 50pound mono approx 50m ontop of 250 m of 45lb braid that might have to do, its currently mounted on a 15kg snapper rod but i could buy a cheap shimano beastmaster 24kg for it to go on until i can afford a tyrnos. personally I dont (other may do) as most reels strong enough for 24kg are either larger or more expensive.
Often 2nd had can be very good but as mentioned a lot larger.
I tend to fish with smaller lighter gear but I rarely target Kings now days (plus most of my fishing is off my boat.
As mentioed, keep in touch as I will have to go to Coromandel at least once in December before Christmas to mow the lawns so may be able to bring the boat down if time and winds allow for it

I tore the frame apart on a TLD 25 and Shimano told me that 25 indicated 25lb, 15 indicates 15lb and a TLD 50 is 50lb. I guess that its great to have the extra line weight as you can always set the drag lighter but have the power if needed
