Also interested in first fishing kayak for wife and daughter. I have a trusty Prowler 13 but wondered about getting something a bit lighter but is still reasonably good through the water. Considering something like Viking Espri, Ocean Kayaks Tetra or maybe Scrambler II. Personally, I'd stick to Ocean Kayak or Viking. If you think you're going to last the distance, get an mid to upper end model from the start. What! After a boat mate its frikken cheap as. Save yourself the hassle of upgrading look at a second hand Profish 400 at least.

Hi all. I have sold the boat and Looking at getting in to some kayak fishing this summer. Mostly inner gulf (Auckland). Launching at Mairangi bay/Takapuna. Maybe waitemata harbour when the tide isn't ripping through.

And advise on whether these are a good option for a starter???
