Where the Pourangaki and Kawhatau meet. Am I correct in understanding that by the kawhatau confluence you mean after the pourangaki and kawhatau meet? Has anyone any idea of whether there are fish in the hills? Please excuse m ignorance but where exactly is the Pourangaki river ?
 
If it is somewhere in the Wairarapapa I will most likely be in that region just after opening day in Oct.

I've fished the Pourangaki from the Kawhatau confluence and it's a lovely bit of water. Not big fish but the scenery is superb. Good fishing from the junction with the Kahwatau  .      Also good fishing in the Marapea from the Rangitikai confluence   Best access through Mokau Stn,
