With the easterly rising, I hugged the northern shoreline and found a sheltered spot just around the corner from The Papatu point. The fishing wasn't fast and furious, but bring in a kayak, I didn't have much option expect got grinding it out and hoping to find some obliging fish. There were plenty of fish on the sounder, but very few playing ball. Eventually there was a bit of fishy action, with a few deciding the flies being used looked the business. In the end, the result was 5 fit rainbows and a mild case of hypothermia. Managed two cracking jacks of 4.1kg and 3.6kg, which made the suffering through the cold breeze worth the effort.
