Thanks for the ideas guys, the shimano rod wrap works the best. Wrap around belly of lure first, then lay belly triple against that. little velcro buckle from the $2 shop, i think they come in packs of 5 for tying up cables?

yeah same principle as the clips
At bunings, and the only place around  I have found stocks it, they have  2m (I think) velcro that sticks back on its self type strips.. not cheap about $20  but damn usefull for all assorts of things

the Jarvis Walker Velcro rod straps work well, combined with Treb covers.....to protect the rod mostly. Similar issue.. a soft bait or trolling lure or bait/ sinker with rods in the holders and travelling.. or even just sitting between re baiting whatever..
I use $2 shop elcheapo large ladies spring hair clips.. the ones that sort of look like an over grown paper clamp.
weight is brought down to just above the reel and the hair clips clamp everything to the rod so hooks, weights, line doesnt flap around in banging, denting, tangling, hooking  etc
When not in use they clamp to whatever is handy.. a rail, side of the bait board, bimini frame....

Might sound like a silly question but how do you guys stop getting hook rash on the side of your lures when your rod is in the rod holder and your underway.
